Bernard T. Wall represents individuals, family groups, corporate executives and fiduciaries. His practice focuses on estate planning, probate administration, and charitable and non-charitable giving.

Bernie’s practice includes the creation of entities such as perpetual trusts, partnerships, LLCs, charitable lead and remainder trusts, and private foundations to carry out family estate planning objectives. As a senior member of the bar, over the years Bernie has spoken and written extensively. He has been President of the Chicago Estate Planning Counsel, Treasurer of the Chicago Bar Association, Chairman of the Trust Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association, and has been active in the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations.

Bernie’s career started at The First National Bank of Chicago (now JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A.) where at different times he was Trust Counsel and Head of the Personal Trust Division. Bernie then moved to Winston & Strawn, Chicago, where he became head of the Trust & Estates Practice Group. Bernie and Tim Carroll were founders of Carroll & Wall, one of the first “boutique” estate planning firms in Chicago.

For many years Bernie was Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. He also was a trustee of Illinois Wesleyan University. Other civic activities include working with charities and universities on planned giving committees. He is a member of the Union League Club of Chicago.
