Joan Berg joined Harrison & Held in 2009 as part of the real estate and lending group. Prior to her joining the firm, she was a partner with Dykema Gossett, PLLC. Ms. Berg's practice includes counseling clients in real estate, financing and general corporate matters.
Her real estate experience includes residential community, retail, office and commercial acquisitions, sales, development and structuring of corporate entities. Ms. Berg has represented real estate developers in the negotiation and drafting of complex purchase and sale agreements, financing documents, assorted easement and license agreements, land use agreements, construction agreements and the closing of such transactions. In addition, Ms. Berg's experience includes drafting and negotiating lease agreements for retail and office use, on behalf of both landlords and tenants.
Ms. Berg also has significant experience in real estate lending representation which includes drafting and negotiating loan documents for community banking institutions and large institutional lenders in transactions ranging from acquisition, development, and construction loans for residential and commercial property to mini-perm and permanent loan transactions.
Joan is active in community affairs, currently serving as the superintendant for the catechetic school of Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, a religious education program for over 300 children.
