John's practice has been focused in the area of general litigation and general business advice
since 1981. His litigation experience includes commercial lease disputes, construction
disputes, real estate issues, banking issues, intellectual property matters, securities
fraud, bankruptcy-related disputes, debtor-creditor rights, accountants’ malpractice,
equipment leasing, corporate and partnership dissolution, employment discrimination and
general contractual disputes. His business experience has mainly focused on the credit
card processing industry and the railcar leasing industry.
Prior to joining Harrison & Held, LLP, John was affiliated with Mayer, Brown & Platt as an
associate from 1981-87 and as a partner from 1988-94. He then founded his own partnership
with George Vurdelja, known as Vurdelja & Heaphy, in 1994. Both George and John joined
Harrison & Held, LLP on March 1, 2007.
