Lawrence G. Staat has extensive experience in the areas of state and federal taxation, mergers and acquisitions, private placements, property sales and exchanges, employee compensation and benefits, estate planning, asset protection, succession planning, tax planning, and tax controversies.
Larry counsels business owners and senior executives in matters affecting their businesses and personal estates. For over 35 years, Larry has developed and implemented successful tax-wise plans for transactions involving businesses, real estate, investments, employment, gifts, and inheritance, often utilizing partnerships, trusts, and S corporations to achieve the desired tax results. He has litigated tax controversies before the United States Tax Court on behalf of both taxpayers and the IRS.
Larry's views on business tax matters have been sought by the media. In September, 2011, he was quoted in the online Financial Times publication FireFund regarding Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s compensation system for financial advisors. In January 2010, he was quoted in an online Wall Street Journal business column, Broker's World, regarding Wells Fargo's new payroll system.
